1. Seeing a Facebook post from my dad announcing his retirement. This day has been decades in the making – and I’m so happy that after 40+ years of hard work (and numerous product developments, patents, and genuine scientific innovations), he now gets to do whatever the heck he wants with his time. Yay!!
2. Talking with a store clerk and learning that 1) there is a Hindu temple just 5 miles away from where we live, and 2) they offer free yoga classes daily. Both of these insights are stunningly cool!
3. Learning about a filmmaker that uses novel twists on old ideas to help people become more friendly and positive – even if only for a brief moment in time. Check out the photo gallery on his blog – it definitely put a smile on my face (and in my heart).

Thank you so much Joss! I asked him how he felt on his last day at work, and he said that right now it just feels like another weekend – and he suspects for a few weeks it will just feel like vacation. My wish for him is that the “vacation” feeling continues all the rest of his days! 🙂

yes, absolutely. it takes a while for the reality of retirement to sink in, as in not getting up and going to work five days a week, or thinking about work etc. And then, doors seem to open to a whole new life, a new way of being yourself in this world.
