Day 439

1. Taking advantage of an opportunity to deliver a positive comment to a store employee.  She replied, “Thank you so much for letting me know! I usually only get to hear the complaints – never the compliments.”

2. Getting to lead a brief meditation session at work with a team of people who were genuinely interested in the topic.  I continue to be surprised by the various individuals and teams who want to learn about meditation; these experiences help me practice non judgment.  (Which is hard!  But so worth it.)

3. Seeing vibrant pops of color amid an otherwise gray day.  Images included a bright red door, brilliant blue siding, a pink adirondack chair…. all so lovely.

I was waiting at the doctor’s and it was a looooong wait, when I went up to the receptionist to ask when I can actually see the doctor, they grimaced and I guess secretly braced for a barrage of complain about long waits. Just that face, it made me stop and think, I wouldn’t have the patience to do this day after day and it can’t be easy when the doctors don’t run smoothly on schedule. Made me pause enough to smile and joke with them about the wait rather than biting their head off. I have to say I spent 3 hours trying to see 2 docs and get 1 test done but because I held back from chewing off other’s head, my own overall experience went fantastically well 🙂

It’s amazing how perspective and kindness really CAN change situations, and life as a whole. Great awareness! And disciplined practice of patience. 🙂

I know; I’ve done it before, and it definitely is a challenge. I hope you’re feeling better now! (At least a little bit?) Take care of yourself.
